MARTIN’S TRACK OF THE WEEK (11 SEPTEMBER 2017)

Flaming Lips. Not a band I’m particularly up on of to be honest. Most of their albums since their 1999 release The Soft Bulletin have passed me by for some reason. They are a band not on my radar some for reason.

But, that being said they have what a consider an American classic in their collection. And that track is their 1993 wonder She Don’t Use Jelly. It’s a brilliantly played and structured straightforward indie rock song with wonderfully absurdist singalong lyrics

The single, their biggest hit, is taken from the 1993 album Transmissions from the Satellite Heart album is not representative of the rest of the album. Pity.

Now  just sit back and enjoy the wonderful She Don’t Use Jelly…
